There are two paths coming together, both of which are equally frightening, but one of which promises an easy way up while the other promises only pain and hardship for your return trip back over the bridge. Both paths look pretty much the same in appearance, but they are in reality very different in their ability to lead you to safety or doom. One path is easy and convenient, while the other is difficult and dangerous.
However, in reality the difference between them lies not in their appearance but in their ability to take you where you want to go. The path that looks so much like an easy way up actually makes it harder than the one that appears treacherous but actually saves your life in the end when you return over it again and again.
